Enos is the Boss!!

MAN it is cold here.  Today is a high of -2 not counting
the wind chill.  Schools and the library closed again.
So I am having to e-mail at the church from my ipad.
Hey ya guys!!! :)

So this morning I read Enos and oh my goodness he has so much Faith and man I just love it!  You all should read it and let me know what you think!  :)  Because he is cool!

Another thing I liked this week and don't remember when I gathered this knowledge...but here ya go.

Do you have the will to win?
We totally have the Will to Win!
We have been prepared to win!  :)

You all got this and can do anything with the Lords help!

This week has been grand!  We had a super awesome lesson with J****!  It was at the K**** and Sister K just connected so well with John and gave amazing comments and helped him to understand! He had pink eye so he couldn't come to church again.  :(  So sad!  Satan really doesn't want him to come.

M**** is back from out of town!  Yahoo!  She has been sick, we saw her on Tuesday and she didn't really read since she was playing with her grand kids and then got sick.  We met with her again on Friday though and she had read three chapters!  I was floored and so happy!!  On Sunday we talked to a member and told her how we really wanted her to come with us to a lesson with Mary.  Sounds like we will finally be able to make something work out!  I'm super excited, members make lessons awesome!!
Me being silly!

We had an awesome lesson with J****!  Sister C*** came with us and they connected so well.  It was super wonderful!  So nice to have the members connect with the investigators.  Hopefully she can come this week too.  We are hoping to start having lessons at her house.  June is starting to understand a little bit more every visit.

We got 6 PNI's (Potential New Investigator) this week!  One of which just makes me smile!

We did a stop by and decided to go make another one.  We put the address in the GPS and went on our way.  As we set out to drive we drove by this guy and we waved and he waved back.  I was like, lets go talk to him!  So we turned around and I was like uh hurry say a quick prayer in your head.  We hopped out of the car and talked to this awesome Chinese man!  He isn't sure what he believe.  We left him with a pamphlet and he said he'd call us.  We are planning to go see him soon!  He doesn't know it yet but he is searching for the truth and we totally have it!  He is way cool, and I am excited to see what happens.

A picture for Nutty!
The next PNI is sorta sad.  We met this sweet older lady and she told us to come back in an hour or so.  We did and this time her husband answered and well to the point, he didn't like us and told us to go away.  We feel like we need to do something still.  She has suffered from a few strokes and when we feel the time is right are going to leave a Plan of Salvation Pamphlet and tell them about how Families are Forever.  We will see if they call us.  I was bummed but I know we need to do something.  We will just listen to the spirit and then we will know what to do.

we passed while out tracting!  HEHHE
Something that was really cool is we had a random couple and their adorable little boy come to church!  They needed to use the bathroom and then was invited to join.  They stayed for Sacrament and said they'd come again.  I made sure to get their information.  They live in the Elder's area but they are so sweet and nice and MAN I just love them!  I look forward to hearing how they are progressing in the future and seeing them again at church.
Totally cool new toy!!!

Random story of the week!

Sometimes you go tracting and people think you are crazy because it is so cold outside.  Here is how it happened.  First we knocked on this one door and met a cool lady and she invited us to go kayaking, which totally would have been fun! (At a local pool) one day right?  On Lake Michigan too!  :)  Then we knocked on her neighbors and on the door it had a sticky note saying "knock and my dogs will announce you" and they did!  Before we even got to the door.  This lady answered and she was mad at us for being out in the cold and told us that we should have better clothes on.  She wasn't that happy to see us.  Honestly at that moment it really wasn't that cold...granted we have layers on and have gotten better at staying warm but yeah we just laughed and hoped she stays warm and has a better day!  :)

I love you all!
Sister North :)

Sister North LOVES LOVES LOVES mail so drop her a post card, a letter, a quick scripture.  Anything she would just be happy to hear from you.  She is very good about writing back too!

GURNEE LOVES ME!!! Transfer 5! Staying in the Gurnee 2nd Ward!!

Sister North and Sister Grant
Date:  January 20, 2014
Area:  Gurnee
Companion:  Sister Grant

To my favorite people in the world!!

I LOVE YOU!!!

The scripture I want to share with you this week is what I read this morning in 2 Nephi.

2 Nephi 26:33
For none of these iniquities come of the Lord; for he doeth that which is good among the children of men; and he doeth nothing save it be plain unto the children of men; and he inviteth them all to come unto him and partake of his goodness; and he denieth none that come unto him, black and white, bond and fee, male and female; and he remembereth the hearthen; and all are alike unto God, both Jew and Gentile.

We are ALL God's Children and He loves us all SO very much!!!  I know that!!!  He LOVES YOU!!!!

WOOT WOOT!!!  Sister Grant and I are staying in Gurnee!!!!  It is going to e a rockin awesome transfer!!  These last few weeks have been awesome and we have done a ton!~!  So it is going to be a great transfer and I am so excited to stay here.  I love the people here so much!!  There are miracles happening everywhere!!  :D

We sang this in church Sunday
This week was solid!  Mostly...The only sad part is getting a text Saturday night and J**** telling us that he wouldn't be able to come to church because he was helping his family...Oh my goodness I was SO MAD!!!  He couldn't come last week because of a family thing and same with this week and he promised us.  Can I just say Satan is sure doing a good job at keeping him from Church!  He knows that is the thing he need to REALLY Know for himself if he need to enter the waters of baptism and he is keeping him from that.  Yeah it made me sad, but after that we had an awesome lesson with J****!  GUESS WHAT?!?  He said the closing prayer!!  I was shocked.  He honestly said it like it was no big deal.  I am still a little shocked at this because the entire time I have met with him he wouldn't pray for us.  It was SO SO SO wonderful!!!  After I told him that was awesome!  The best prayer ever!  Or something like that.  We had a great lesson at finishing the Plan of Salvation which actually was not what we planned but it was wonderful!  He really is having a desire to learn and it is awesome!!!

We had a Great lesson with J**** at the S****.  The best part about this lesson was after we "closed everything" I guess you could say when we asked him what he feels when he reads the Book of Mormon.  He told us that he feels peace and feels good.  It took us like five minutes to help him understand that THAT FEELING is the Spirit and then he made the connection that if he read everyday that he could feel that way everyday.  We said yes!  So we re invited him to read every day.  It really was awesome!!  He is doing so well, he just needs to come to church.

We have been teaching Sister Grant's friend this week and it is still super awesome!!  We are hoping to Skype with him soon because we feel like it will help him be more comfortable with meeting with the missionaries locally.  We asked him if he would be willing to meet with some where he is at but he isn't ready for that yet.  He is praying and loving it!  It is really great.

Oh man we met with M**** this week!!  We haven't taught her in forever!  Oh my goodness she is so ready to hear the gospel.  We had such a wonderful lesson on the Atonement.  We told her how families can be together forever and she really loves that.  She wants her family to be involved.  It is just hard because she is sooo busy and it is really hard to meet with her.  We are hoping to keep having short simple lessons with her.  Every time we meet her I just love her more!

We had a lesson with P**** this week, another one we haven't been able to meet with for a long time. We might have to drop him because he doesn't really want to pray to ask if this church is true.  He knows it is good but isn't willing to ask so that is sad.  :(

We be silly Sisters
It has been a crazy week and I can't remember what happened but it was super awesome!

Oh so Monday night we had FHE (family home evening) for the two adorable boys who are both under 8.  Last week we finally talked to their mom and got to know her and it was the BEST.  We invited her to join us on Monday and she did!  We had a cool cut out of the first vision and we also got to teach her about it and ask her questions and learn more about her religious background.  We invited her to pray and to ask about the Church.  She said that she will see us next week!  AHH, it is just wonderful.  If she learns of the truthfulness of this glorious gospel not only will it make her life better and bring her family so much happiness but it will bring her boyfriend back to the church who is less active and maybe even his brother!  That would be AWESOME!  So totally praying for that!!

We had interviews with President Woodbury this week and he is so amazing and I know that he is a man of God.

Well things are really going wonderful and I am excited to be staying here in Gurnee!!  I really do love it here.  We have so much work to do!!

Hello to my wonderful family and friends!!!!

We had three lessons on Facebook!!!  So AWESOME!!!!

So what happened is we ended at this lesson longer than we thought and we felt like we still needed to check Facebook even though it was after 4pm (they want us on it before four) and well The Lord had things in store for us because we had such a wonderful lesson with Sister Grant's friend.  We talked to him and then he asked a question that we both knew it was time to say a pray to have the Lords help as we teach him about prayer.  It was so cool to feel the spirit even though we couldn't see him!  It was crazy!!!  Then later in the week we had another lesson with him!!  WE have just been focusing on prayer and he said he prayed!!  Two nights in a row!

So as long as it is Gospel related, letting her do missionary work.  Sister North can talk to friends and family from home.  So if anyone out there that has questions and might want some answers but don't want the missionaries to come over this might be a less threatening way to find out information.  Just friend Sister Amber North and you can ask her questions through the private message feature.

It has been a little ok A TON cold here.
So we are glad it has warmed up.

The day before we had a lesson with someone I know.  It didn't go quite as well but it was still cool.

We met someone else at the Library!  Her name is S****!!!  I actually met her sometime during the summer and gave her a Book of Mormon but someone told her that "it wasn't a bible" so she stopped reading it.  Well we talked for a little bit and we got her information and turns out that she even lives in our area this time!! YAHOO  :)
Lots of things shut down for a few days because of the cold.
Some things tried to run but couldn't like this bus being towed.
W**** came to church, he was the first one we met at the Library!  He came to Sacrament!  YIPPY!!  He still hasn't found a place yet.  He is trying to so he can move out of his sisters.  Once that happens we will be transferring him to someone else.  He seemed to really love singing the hymns!  We hopefully will have a lesson with him this week and we want to sing a hymn with him.  :)

Yummy food and fun!  New favorite restaurant!!

On Saturday we got to have lunch at a place called El Norte. Our kind of place right!!!  Best part is it was free!  So a few mornings ago we were talking to this guy named B****.  He was/is a potential.  Not too interested....yet.  (She is always the optimist) Turns out he owns the restaurant with his friend and said if we come in on a Saturday that it is on him.  SUPER NICE!  I told him how we always have Mexican food for Christmas and I was bummed because I missed it this year.  He asked how that tradition started and I didn't know.  So how did it?  When we walked in there was an Elvis singing!  He sung the entire time.  It was
Tacos El Norte
pretty much the BEST!!!  It was soo soo yummy I think this is my new favorite place to eat!

Back when we stopped going to families for Christmas (because we had too many kids and it is difficult to travel for Christmas with kids and all their stuff and presents) I decided I didn't want to have ham and turkey again so soon.  I love Mexican food so I decided that is what we would do for Christmas and luckily my hubby agreed readily.  So our non traditional traditional Christmas dinner of Mexican food was born.  I doubt any of the kids remember anything different.  We have tacos, tamales, enchilada, rice, 7 layer dip, and chicken tortilla soup.

We did a lot of talking to people this week, it was really awesome.  One of which was the mom to the two little boys we teach a little Family Home Evening lesson to every Monday.  I finally was able to invite her to join us.  Their dad I have invited before but he is always very busy.  Their Grandma is always there.

Me and M**** - I just love her!
M**** is doing awesome!  She will be out of town the next two weeks.  She is reading the Book of Mormon and has read like eight or eleven chapters so far.  We told her if she keeps it up that she'll catch up to Sister Grand and I.  It is really awesome to watch her grow!

J**** was going to come to church but then got to go see his grandson.  We were bummed but we really hope he will come next week.  He is still praying but still feels like he hasn't gotten an answer. We also feel like with him coming to church will help too!  :D

I love it here!  We are finally having actual lessons that are set up and have members coming with us.  We have only been able to do a lot of stop by's before because everyone has been gone with the holidays.

Last night we made cookies at M**** house (we helped her move a month or so ago) and she even fed us dinner.  We shared a little thought with her and it was good and talked to her daughter A**** for a little bit.

We had a pow-wow the other night with our neighbors I**** and D**** and talked and then shared a scripture from the Book of Mormon and talked about faith and stuff and it was really good.

C**** is doing well.  She struggles getting to church every week.  It is hard when your doing it alone with a little one.  Her husband is gone a lot and is very busy.  We just love their family and little K**** is so cute.

J**** took us out to Lunch at Olive Garden.  It was tasty and we talked about the Plan of Salvation!  :D

This e-mail is super random but I hope you like it  HAHAH  :)

Happy New Year! Stay Warm...don't freeze!

hmm cold much?  This is without wind chill!!!
Date:  January 6, 2014
Area:  Gurnee
Companion:  Sister Grant

Hey Everyone!!

I already told my mom some things that have been happening and I was going to just write a letter home because I don't like typing on the iPad for e-mailing.   The library is closed today because well, it is freezing!!

It has been a super awesome week!  I took a ton of pictures this week!  You won't get them today....sorry.  Like I said the library is closed because it is FREEZING!!!  I would send my card home but I have a picture I need to send Brittany of a tractor hehhe :)  Man it is freezing!!  Haha and I think if the church wasn't so close we just wouldn't of e-mailed.  I don't think we are going to go shopping today.  We should have enough food for this week.  I just won't get my normal bananas that I buy every week.  YUM  :)

When she says it is freezing she is NOT joking.  On my phone I have the weather app and I have all three area's my kids are serving put in so I can check on their weather any time.  For Amber's area the forcast is as follows.
Monday, January 6th - high of  negative 11 and low of negative 16.
Tuesday, January 7th - high of 6 and low of negative 6.
Wednesday, January 8th - high of 12 and low of zero.
Thursday, January 9th - high of 27 and low of 22 (whahoo back to normal!)
Of course these ridiculously low negative numbers are not factoring in the windchill which I hear makes it feel more like negative 30-45.  I was actually surprised to hear from her because I thought there was a good chance we wouldn't.  The picture we did get were taken on her ipad she can't send the ones from her camera because she isn't at the library with a card reader.  So we will have to wait until next week for those. All the local schools, colleges, public places, most of the museums and stuff were all shut down today because of the frigid temperatures.  To contrast a little we (in the Salt Lake City area) are in the high's of mid thirty's and lows in the teens.  Bryen in Arkansas is a little bit warmer than us and Jered in Guatemala is in the mid 70's for hights and lows of mid 50's.

Sister Grant and I just having some fun
 Okay to answer some questions:

We have church at 1:00 pm now and it is weird but yesterday was a great day!  Yesterday was one of the moments that I just felt well...on top of the world and that I have learned and grown, it is pretty dandy.  :)

Me being silly as I wait for Sister Grant
Sister Grant's foot is doing well, it isn't fully strong like normal but all is well.  She slipped the other day and I told her if it was anyone else I would have laughed but because it was her I didn't and was like ahh don't don't do that, haha.  We both still have a slight cough but we had a great week full of work!  It was super nice to work.  I feel like Christmas was forever ago and even New Years doesn't feel like it was this past week.  We went to the H**** for dinner and had lasagna and it was divine!  Went home after that, curfew was earlier and because of the dinner we were a little late but it was ok.  We even took some fun pictures in the snow because it snowed for like three days.  I climbed a tree and made a snow angel.  Pictures next week!

Uh...Chicago phrases...hmm I don't know.  I guess I have a Utah accent, or so I have been told.  I think that is pretty cool.  It is more how they say certain things here like dat over there or get em.

Hmm....well I'm glad Ceaira got my letter, I can't believe she is 14!  Happy Birthday Ceaira!  :)  I hope you liked all the stickers on the envelope especially the my little pony ones.  HAHA

Man typing on the iPad is so much slower than I'd like.  You'll be getting a letter this week because I'm done for now.  I have a ton of e-mails today.  I think 10 are from sweet Sister Attanasio sending pictures, YAY!  Hahaha
Ok one more of me all bundled up
because it is FREEZING!!!!

I love you!  Sorry it isn't a lot of information but I have so much to say, so much happened and it was great! I love the work!  I love the Lord!  Anything is possible when we let him into our lives!

Stay warm!  I don't know what the weather is like there but man it is freezing here!

Love,
Sister North :)

So you all should write Sister North because well, lets face it letters keep her warm!
